In 2012, the Five Towns Community Chest recognized attorney Marc Rovner for his community service. Prior to its name change, the Five Towns Community Chest’s mission was to raise funds to help residents and organizations on Long Island’s South Shore in times of need. In 2016, the organization re-branded itself as the Community Chest South Shore, reflecting an expanded purpose as the umbrella organization for the Five Towns Community Center, Center for Adult Life Enrichment, Tempo Group, Inc., and Five Towns Early Learning Center. The purpose of the change was to incorporate more communities into its purview, and to remain relevant and important to the people it served. Today, the organization supports 22 programs. One of these programs is Neighbors Helping Neighbors, which assists residents with the basics such as paying a heating bill or helping a family obtain clothing for their child.
