Since 1998, experienced New York-based attorney, Marc Rovner from East Rockaway has served as general counsel and director of business development at BETA Abstract, LLC, in Oceanside. A graduate of Boston University School of Law, attorney Marc Rovner stays connected with his alma mater through his involvement in the school’s alumni association. Each spring, Boston University (BU) alumni around the world participate in Global Days of Service (GDS), a community service event spanning an entire month. In 2015, more than 2,000 GDS volunteers led 182 projects in 94 cities worldwide. GDS activities are wide-ranging and include everything from organizing environmental cleanup projects and supporting disaster relief work to mentoring youth and volunteering at homeless shelters. BU alumni, students, and staff can soon register for GDS 2016, which will run from April 1 through April 30. Currently, planning is in the works for GDS projects around the world, and BU is accepting proposals for other projects as well as looking for motivated individuals to lead them. More information about the event can be found at www.bu.edu/globaldaysofservice.
